More flow please…

Posted on

After seeking cams and a free flowing exhaust along with a large turbine A/R on the turbocharger, we noticed we still had some issues up top to where we wanted to rev the car. We decided to do some porting work on the cylinder head. Ralph cleaned up the casting nicely knife edging the splits in ports, polishing the exhaust and rippling the intake side. All in all, after about 10 hours of work, he did an excellent job. Flow bench tested and approved! Picked up nearly 3 PSI more boost on the setup. Boooooooooooost creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. LOL

Used the following components:

REV +1mm oversized valves on intake and exhaust

REV bronze valve guides

REV dual wound  valve spring & titanium retainer kit

Viton valve seals

We also have plans of building the motor very soon. We have sought out some nice components that won’t break the bank and offer some excellent reliability including goodies from Wiseco and a few other brands….Stay tuned!

All of these parts and services are available through us at Dezod Motorsports Inc. To reach us on the web, www.dezod.com or by telephone at 716-681-6666.

Our buddy Adam loves Energy drinks. He is a full time state worker and part time security bouncer in the local bar/club district in Buffalo, NY.  He works crazy hours between the two jobs  and likes to have some fun when he is not working 18 out of 24 hours a day.  So one afternoon he brought by his beloved toy a 2001 Yamaha FZ1000 sport bike. He normally needs extra fuel to keep his wheels turning throughout the night, so energy drinks come into play frequently. Adam’s only complaint  about his bike was that there was 2 wheels and no cup holders.  So, we got to thinking….10 minutes went by and Paul rounded up some scrap metal we had laying around and threw together a cup holder for his drink on the Yamaha. Behold…..

So we got some foam to not have it clanking in the cup holder while driving and she worked 100% fine. Not bad for 20 minutes, scrap pipe, flat stock and a scrap intercooler bracket with some TIG welding. 🙂

P.S.-AMP drink not included.

P.P.S.-Tested and proven to speeds of 80mph.

Natural progression of life…Bigger and better.

So after producing our entry level Scion tC turbo system, we sought out to make it that much better.  The system is super clean, makes great power, but lacked some control of the entire combustion cycle to pull it all together. We where first using a GReddy E-manage. That unit did not suit us well and we sought after a more viable solution. Putting our nose to the grind stone, we came up with some beautiful AEM products custom done to work with the 2AZFE.

Our first solution was for the AEM FIC. It’s a piggyback that allows for fuel and ignition control.  It worked well, but for hardcore use and BIG power, it was not feasible.

We decided to custom fit an older AEM EMS standalone box to work…..So after several weeks or horrible wiring, problems galore….It was a success.

The unit worked with unparalleled success and truly rocked our socks! We made up a couple more units and sold some to a few customers and a pro race team. Needless to say, they did VERY well. The results speak for themselves.

Making it all come together…2AZFE Inclusive

Now-a-days, not many shops are into Toyota tuning for one reason or another. Some say that it’s a difficult platform due to ECU logic,  some say it’s a deal that never works out, while others just are not interested at all. Well, here at Dezod Motorsports, Toyota brands make our world go around. We specialize in Toyota, Scion and Lexus brand components and such. We have studied the platform inside and out since 2005 and have become quite skillful in getting around into making some decent power for this brand.

With 2jzge and 2jzgte engines aside, out comes the variable valve equipped 2.4L 2azfe engine found in the following chassis: Scion tC, Toyota Matrix XRS, Toyota Carolla XRS, Toyota Rav 4, Toyota Camry and a few others. We decided to start within the Scion brand as it’s body lines are catchy, the price is right (around $17K USD) and the youngsters love it.

The 2azfe starts out it’s life as a 140 wheel HP engine and with some minor fabrication work, we’ve been able to get some substantial gains to make run spin to about 250-300 wheel HP depending on supporting modifications and tuning.

So just some eye candy….

Some various dynos from some customers around the country…….Kind of nice what a little boost can do. 🙂

It's really in the pudding.

Ross Petty Getting Serious

Ross Petty showed off his new exhaust setup on the Garage Boso Facebook page today, and with that was one of the craziest collectors I’ve personally ever seen. This 8-to-1 collector compliments his newly built headers which Ross said will make the Rasta S15 both lighter and more powerful in preparation for Road Atlanta. Check out the rest of his crazy exhaust setup below

Gettin a little progress on the car. I didn’t like how flimsy the rad support was. I should of remade it with piping to make it much easier. But for now i just supported it a bit and ill have the original support for the headlights. Finished mocking up the dumb tube, need to get the v band tigged on. Also started on the wiring with the boys. So far its lookin good, should have it running by the weekend hopefully. The stack gauge is soooo much full of WINNING.

I almost cut my index finger off too lol. Got lucky on the band saw.

Playing like a Champ!

As Chelsea DeNofa rolled up to qualifying his hood flew open and smashed his windshield in his BMW. The hood smashed so hard it destroyed the windshield making it unable to run. The car couldn’t pass tech and was put to the side and not allowed to qualify at XDC Phoenix. This is a huge blow to the 2010 champion for making a repeat championship race. A huge bummer to the NST team and Chelsea DeNofa for the weekend.

At the very last minute he was able to get Yoshie’s S14 and make two qualifying passes which got into the main event with that car. He did however lose in the Top 16 putting a big blow to his championship race. source That to me is “Playing like a Champ”

I personally think that Chel’s is a great example of driver climbing the ranks of drift, there will come a point where he will get a full ride and be in FD but the question is will he remain the cool Chel’s that I personally know and that everyone loves or turn into a FD Corporate political tool bag driver ..

I think Chel’s will do great and won’t be “that guy” everyone is different, but money changes everything

Oh Hey There

Posted on

Hello everyone, good to be here. For those of you that don’t know me I am Sasha Anis from SG-Motorsport out of Toronto, Canada and am looking forward to sharing some of our fun antics and fabrications.

We’re currently living the high stress Fab life, as we’ve got 3 Canadian Touring cars to get ready for a test in 2 weeks, one of the cars looks something like this (although it has since been painted and had the engine installed):

Thankfully the car behind it is complete and tested, so now it’s just a matter of copying over what we know works.

We’ve switched from the 3.8L V6 to the 2.0T for this year as per series demands, and were out testing last weekend at a local track. We will talk about some of the technical details of the cars soon to come!

We’re also working on a 240sx out of Vancouver for a customer that is going to be running in the Evergreen drift series. The engine was built by Tomei in Japan and the car has come to us for race-car prep (Like in Gran Rurismo when you buy “RACING MODIFICATION!!!!”. At some point you need to stop modifying a car, and strip it down to the shell, and only put back what you need. We’ve re-done the oil, power steering, coolant, turbo, electrical and fuel systems, bolted on some fresh aero, setup the suspension and are currently working on a front bash bar setup and a nice defrost and cabin ventilation system for the customer before returning the car for his season. We’ll do a post on some of the finer details soon 🙂

We’ve also got an E30 M3 with a S52B32 engine (96 M3 engine), supercharged that we just wired and installed a ViPEC V88 into. E30’s have very little floor to ground clearance so we did up a nice oval exhaust system for it. It also has a Snow Performance meth system, with an AEM meth flow injection monitor that is fully integrated into the ECU. If there’s no meth flow, the ECU won’t advance the timing or reduce the fueling – gotta be safe!

I don’t have any pictures but will get some up soon. We’re currently working on a dual in tank fuel pump solution, as the factory E30 fuel systems are horrible and use a siphon to transfer fuel over the saddle tank hump? Maybe it worked when new, but the customer is complaining about fuel starvation in corners with anything less than 3/4 fuel. The car also has a Race Technology dash that is integrated into the ViPEC ECU. Cool.

It seems like there isn’t a single day when I don’t pick up my TIG for at least one thing or another. And there is always someone either cutting, grinding, sanding or trimming something in the shop. How some shops run without doing any fabrication is beyond me – I can’t remember the last time I was actually able to just “bolt” something on!

I guess that’s why we live the fabrication life 🙂
