2015 World Cup Finals – Import vs. Domestic

Posted on

On the first weekend of November 2015, the Vibrant team visited Maryland International Raceway to attend the 20th Annual Import vs. Domestic World Cup Finals. This event always brings a big crowd due to several reasons. Firstly, November brings cool weather in the north east, ideal weather conditions for turbocharged vehicles. Secondly, Maryland International Raceway is known for having state of the art race track prep; for example, every few passes the track officials make their rounds cleaning the track of debris, laying down glue, and drying the track with torches or a jet powered dryer. Lastly, this is known as the last big event of the season and drivers and race teams bring everything they have been testing to the table, breaking world records as well as personal bests. While Thursday and Friday’s weather were ideal, mother nature dropped a rain storm on Saturday leaving an entirely washed out track and thus locking the qualifying grid from the previous days. This created tension amongst the drivers, and made for a more competitive event on Sunday, with back-to-back racing from 10am to 1am Monday morning. The Vibrant team is always happy to see some old faces, but equally excited to meet some of the new drivers and teams in the hunt for a win!

Vibrant SEMA 2014

Another very successful SEMA has come and gone. With it, a number of great feature vehicles, spectacular builds and even some ‘minor’ fender-bender action on the last day (Ouch, Liberty Walk Ferrari). We’ve collected so many great shots – here’s just a few with a focus around the use of Vibrant products, but in general, just an amazing collection of custom work. Have a look and don’t forget to check out Vibrant’s video coverage review, including interviews with a few special build teams!

“3 Minute Fire”- Cody Loveland revisits Pikes Peak 2013 Crash with FabricationLife

Cody Header 3

We have seen his video all over the net, but what you didn’t see is the behind-the-scenes aftermath of Cody “LOVEFAB” Loveland’s fiery collision at Pikes Peak.  Just put yourself in the drivers seat on this wild ride.  It was a brief ride, but extremely dangerous with a vicious crash. This could have been deadly had it not been for top notch safety equipment.  That, and proper chassis fabrication, is the only reason this was not a fatal ride that day in Cody’s used-to-be NSX, now coined Enviate.

PumpKing starts rebuild, shoots for more HP.

Mr. George’s Z06 caught fire at TX2k14 (seen on our last PumpKing introduction HERE!), blowing out the candles on the party for the Orange blur most videos showed coming around the competition. While it looked like lights out for a while for the player we caught wind that the next day William was already on the phone ordering and the car was already getting stripped and prepped for rebuild.  Continue reading

Texas Dig Race: Camaro upsets GTR fans worldwide

Alpha 12 GTR vs Bird’s Camaro.

We were at the Call Out Dig Race by Stance Autoworks in Houston recently during TX2k and saw this pass, which by far was the biggest upset of the night from the 100+ cars which were on the entry list. Brian’s Alpha 12 GTR from TopSpeed Motorsports was stacked up in the 2nd round against Bird’s Camaro. This has become a real storm of comments on the dig list as well as on Facebook. Some say the Camaro jumped while others call it as the GTR “was sleeping” on the go. Whatever the case may be, the upset of the night was in this race. 1000’s packed this hidden airstrip somewhere in Northern Houston to see these cars battle it out for a cash money pot in a winner-take-all ladder.

We were pulling for Brian’s GTR, but the proof is in the pudding that this Camaro was ready when at the line and took the W. Congrats to Bird, who went a few more rounds. If you were out there, how did you see it?

For those who were expecting the GTR to take it all, here is Brian’s 1st race:
